I understand that counselling might not be the beft fit for your needs, and that private counselling is often beyond the means of many people. I've listed below a number of agencies that provide various forms of specialist help and support. Some of them provide low cost (or even free) counselling to those with limited means, or those who meet the particular agency's criteria for help. If you can't see anything that seems to fit your needs, then please get in touch and I'll see if I'm able to point you in the right direction.

Elim Connect

"Connect Counselling has rooms in Wells, Glastonbury and Frome and offers short, medium and long term counselling which is accessible and affordable to all. We offer help and support to adults and young people experiencing a range of personal problems, such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, abuse, self-harm and addiction. All clients are listened to in a non-judgemental way and can explore their difficulties, their thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe and confidential environment."

The Bridge

"The Bridge is a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). We offer medical care, emotional and psychological support, and practical help to anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted. Our specialist team will be here for you if you are: an adult or child living in South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Somerset, North Somerset, or Bath and North East Somerset, and from 1st October 2018 if you are child living in those areas or Gloucestershire, Wiltshire or Swindon."

SARSAS

"Somerset & Avon Rape & Sexual Abuse Support provides support to people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Somerset, who have experienced rape or any kind of sexual assault or abuse at any time in their lives."

SDAS

"Somerset Drugs and Alcohol service provide free, confidential treatment and support across Somerset to anyone who is experiencing difficulties with their substance use or is affected by someone else's."

SWEDA

"Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders Association (SWEDA) is a registered charity based in Street, Somerset. We offer help and support (via a range of services) to those affected by eating disorders in Somerset and the surrounding counties."

Mind

"Mind in Somerset works towards a society where individuals who have mental health problems are accepted and included. We actively promote better mental health through all our projects and services and have a holistic approach to wellbeing and recovery. Mindline is an out of hours helpline in Somerset and South Devon and Torbay that is a confidential listening service providing a safe place to talk if you, or someone you know, is in distress. We can also give basic information about mental health and local services. Mindline Trans+ is a confidential emotional, mental health support helpline and signposting service for people who identify as Trans, A Gender, Gender Fluid, Non-binary."
